GARY STRICKLAND: A long-time State of Arizona Administrative Law Judge (“OAH”) and the former Maricopa County Public Fiduciary, Gary Strickland has extensive experience in probate and estate controversies, Guardianship/Conservatorship and Elder Law matters involving adult abuse and exploitation allegations, Wills and Trusts litigation, administrative proceedings and general civil litigation. In his administrative practice, Gary appears on behalf of medical professionals, fiduciaries and other professionals in administrative licensing matters before the various State regulatory boards. He also provides representation to healthcare entities in matters involving patient capacity and informed consent.

After Gary served the Arizona Office of Administrative Hearings (“OAH”) from 1999 through 2007, conducting hundreds of hearings involving the various state agencies, Gary served Maricopa County as a Deputy County Attorney (Civil Division) and Senior General Counsel. He continues serving the Maricopa County Superior Court as a Judge Pro Tem in the Civil and Probate Divisions.

Prior to joining the Scottsdale firm, Radix Law, (recently merged as APRIO LEGAL), he was a partner at Warner Angle Hallam & Jackson, PLC, for nearly ten years.

Mr. Strickland is a past chair (2020-2021) of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Arizona’s Elder Law, Mental Health and Special Needs Planning Section. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Scottsdale Bar Association. He has presented a number of CLEs over the years on topics ranging from Evidence Standards in Administrative Law; to Undue Influence and Professional Misconduct; The 2ND Amendment and Mental Health; Defending Complaints before the Arizona Fiduciary Board; and many others. He has a keen interest in the conduct of administrative hearings, has followed the influence and application of Chevron throughout the years, and offers unique perspective and insight.

Gary received his J.D. (1984) from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He also holds a M.Div. degree in Historical Theology (1978) and a M.A. in Medieval History (1975).

Vegan Entrée: Vegetable stir fry with fried rice

All meals served with rolls and butter, baby spinach salad- craisins, feta cheese, creamy balsamic (GF) and poached pear with raspberry and chocolate sauce. Upon request, a dairy free dessert will be available.

1. The guest must be eligible for membership in the Scottsdale Bar Association. See www.scottsdalebar.org, click on Membership Information, then Membership Categories.

2. The guest cannot be a former Scottsdale Bar member.

3. The guest cannot have attended lunch for free in the past.

4. The member must attend the luncheon with the guest.

5. The member must register him/herself for the luncheon, then contact Paige Martin at paigemartinesq@aol.com with the guest’s name and email address, and choice of regular or vegan meal, so that she can register the guest. Member registration and the request for guest registration must be completed before the registration cut-off on the Friday before the luncheon, at noon.

6. The member can only invite one guest to any luncheon.

7. The member is responsible for following up with his/her guest after the luncheon to invite the guest to join Scottsdale Bar.

8. The Board of Directors reserves the right to limit the number of guests attending each luncheon.
